The flower is slightly recurved; substance is heavy and sunfast.Light ruffling enchances the bronze and old rose blush that dusts the flower. The veins of the flower also sport the old rose color which helps intensify the blush of the flowers. WIA is a moderate grower an is at it's best it's 2nd or 3 rd year, but WORTH the effort. $50.00
BACKWATER BEAUTY {Mick 95} Semi-Evergreen 26" EM 6" fr. This large creped flower is a deep golden peach with a small green throat. Form is full, overlapped and has a nice diamond dusting. By today's standards it is only lightly ruffled. Substance is good as is scape strength. Foliage is med.green and arching. Sits pods on almost every flower. pollen fertile. SINGLE FAN 30.00
GLASS HEART {Mick 95} Dormant 24" EE re 4" Fr Gold Throat
{Carondelet x Stroke of Midnight} This Chinese red double
is one of the earliest flowers to bloom for me. It begins in
mid-may here which can still be cool. The bloom has a richer
color as the weather warms, but blooms consistently double in
any weather. This small hose in hose is an early morning
opener. The true base color is gold overlaid with a red
velvet plush and light midribs. Often the sepals are a
lighter red giving a bicolor effect. Branching could be
better, but it makes up by being an instant repeater. Both
Pod and Pollen fertile. This is named for an antique blown
glass ornament I have with the same coloring.SINGLE FAN 20.00
RED FEATHER DUSTER {Mick 95} Dormant 40" ML fr. G Throat {Carondelet x Stroke of Midnight} Although a sibling to GLASS HEART the resemblance stops there. RFD is a deep red of velvety texture and good substance. A hose in hose flower with lots of ruffling and diamond dusting. Stands out at a distance and is gorgeous with an underplanting of white or blue flowers. Scapes are slender but strong enough to carry the weight of buds and blooms. Is pollen fertile but unfortunately I have not been able to set pods on it. Flowers are 3 1/2" SINGLE FAN 20.00
SLEEPY FACE {Mick 95} Dormant 32" La fr 5" Green Throat The flowers open early morning and completely flat with no recurve of petals or sepals making the flower seem larger than registered. The color is a very pale cream apricot with darker veining and light midribs. It is lightly ruffled and a showy green throat with heavy substance and well branched scapes. Pod and Pollen fertile.
